Disabled cricketers in the county are indebted to Hampshire Cricket member Kevin Paddick, who has secured a second grant from the St. James Place Charitable Foundation.
Paddick, whose business Kings Forest Wealth Management is an Associate Partner Practice of St. James's Place, said, “Our first grant in 2014 set up a development squad formed mainly by Special School programme pupils involved in Hampshire Cricket Board’s schools programme. The new training centre in Farnborough, complements the existing Eastleigh and New Forest Groups.”
The new location has already made it easier for new participants from Samuel Cody Specialist Sports College to gain access to quality indoor training.
Outdoor session and matches will follow during the summer.
Disability Cricket Development Manager Simon Jones added: “Transport is one of the greatest barriers in disability sport. St. James's Place Foundation’s support has helped us attract other backers, reduce the average age of our players and increase the number involved.” Last year Hampshire became the first county to enter three teams in the British Association for Cricketers with Disabilities competition.
